This week’s spotlighted produce item is the Green Bean. A lot of you may call them string beans but did you know that the ‘string’ that ran down the seam of the bean (the namesake) has largely been bred out? But they’re still delicious and they’ve got good antioxidants that help with cardiovascular health.
Below are some food items green beans tend to taste good with (found in The Flavor Bible…of course):
- Basil
- Parmesan
- Olive Oil
- Onions
- Parsley
- Summer Savory
- Vinegar
- Tomatoes
- Dill, Thyme, Tarragon, Marjoram
- Hard-boiled egg
- Potatoes
A great flavor affinity recipe would include:
- green beans + mustard + prosciutto + vinaigrette + walnuts
