noun | lynch•burg loc•a•vore | \ˈlinch-ˌbərg \ˈlō-kə-ˌvȯr\
: a lynchburg local who supports our community by eating the fantastic food grown right here in our region.
Here at the Lynchburg Community Market, we think local food is important. That’s why we are so excited to launch the new Lynchburg is for Locavores campaign, celebrating the fantastic local food grown right here in our region and the growing community of local food enthusiasts. Our goal is to encourage even more area citizens to care about where their food is coming from, and to choose local food whenever possible.
So what does it mean to “eat local” It means that instead of your food traveling around 1,500 miles to arrive on your plates for dinner it will travel, at most, 100 miles. It also means that your food choices are helping to keep you, your farmers, the environment, and the local economy healthy. Local food tastes better, is more nutritious, has more variety, and has an unsurpassed freshness. By shopping locally, you can meet the 22 local growers at the Lynchburg Community Market and ensure that they are putting as much care into their products as you would put into your meals. Become a part of the growing Lynchburg Locavore community!
