Hello, my name is Jannett Spearman, and I am a jewelry designer. I have not always been in this field as that by trade I am actually an electronic engineer. However, after working in the field for several years, my family and I ended up traveling a lot. So, I returned to school and earned a graduate degree in education so that I could teach wherever we went.
It wasn’t until we were living in Peru, South America, that I developed an interest in making jewelry. So, in my spare time, I attended the Peruano Japones where I not only studied jewelry design, but also business administration and merchandising. After four years of training, we relocated to Lynchburg where we call home now.
In my jewelry classes, I learned glass fusing, weaving, crocheting, leather working, felting, beading, painting, embossing, wire wrapping, etc. However, I quickly fell in love with the wire crochet technique. To me, this type of jewelry is romantic, intriguing, and very feminine. In many of my pieces I combine several different techniques, but I must say that crocheting in metal wire is my favorite way of expressing my art.
Opportunity to meet, interact and be a part of the downtown Lynchburg community.
