The world is a large place and there are millions of different things going on but around Christmas a lot of people are enjoying their local Holiday Market. It’s nice to think that when we attend the Mistletoe Market we’re doing so along with millions of people around the globe! In fact, we’re participating in a tradition that has been around for hundreds of years. Originating in Europe, Holiday Markets have now spread all over the globe as far as Dubai and Hong Kong! Each one is different and has it’s own specialties. For instance at the Dresden Christmas Market people enjoy the Dresden Christstollen, while in Denmark people sip on glögg (mulled wine) and in Dubai people come to the market to get the best designer clothes discounts (a 21st century market indeed). Here in Lynchburg we get to enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides, visits from Santa and Mrs.Claus, local treats, handmade gifts, and local decorations and produce. It’s a great place to bring the whole family or enjoy with friends and feel connected, in some small way, to the millions of other people around the world doing the same.
